Stress Management

Stress is unavoidable in today’s fast-paced society. People need to understand the role stress can play in their health and wellness. Learning stress management techniques can save your life. Here at LM Wellness we can help you understand stress, give you information on how to manage stress and provide acupuncture for stress relief.

How Stress Affects Your Health

The stressors of daily life (commuting, finding parking or dealing with overcrowded public transit, work deadlines, shopping, cooking, etc) affect us all differently. For some people, it’s all just background noise. For others, it creates a sense of stuff unfinished that nags at the back of their brain and keeps them awake at night. Other people may not feel emotionally stressed but have digestive problems or tight shoulders. Because we all respond differently it can be tough to determine if/when the stress has become too much. Some common signs of stress include:

  • headaches
  • illness or frequent colds/flu
  • tiredness or lethargy
  • sore, tight muscles
  • dull skin, lank hair
  • digestive upset & irregular bowel movements
  • erratic sleep patterns
  • depression or mood swings
  • anger or frustration
  • anxiety
  • paranoid behaviour

Some people are “in tune” with their bodies and notice changes in their stress levels.  Others don’t feel “stressed”, but experience other health problems (see the above examples) that are rooted in stress.

Acupuncture for Stress Relief

acupuncture relieves stress

If you scored as vulnerable to stress, or you know you are feeling “stressed out”, we’re here to help.

Acupuncture is effective in alleviating stress by targeting specific pressure points in the body. By stimulating these points, acupuncture helps to release endorphins, which are natural painkillers and mood enhancers. This can lead to a reduction in stress levels and an overall sense of relaxation and well-being. Additionally, acupuncture has been shown to regulate the body’s stress response by balancing the nervous system and promoting better sleep, which can further assist in stress management.

Come in for a consultation today to find out how stress is affecting your health.  We will go over all the systems in your body (circulatory, digestive, musculoskeletal, hormonal), including a tongue and pulse diagnosis, to see how and where stress is impacting your life.

We will also review your health goals: perhaps you want to get rid of daily headaches, perhaps you want to lose some weight, or perhaps you want more energy to play with your kids.  Perhaps you want to sleep better and wake up smiling.

Once we know where you’re at we will work together to create a treatment plan tailored to your goals. Your treatment plan will include some acupuncture sessions to get you started on the road to stress relief. We will also provide tips and additional techniques you can implement in your stress management plan.
